Playground Review #1

We've already extolled the virtues of the Mattie Park, but just to show that we do leave our neighborhood sometimes, here's the first in an occasional series of playground reviews.

Yesterday was a beautiful early fall day, so we took a trip up to Germantown to visit the Adventure Playground at South Germantown Recreational Park (We forgot the camera, so the photo is courtesy of MontgomeryParks.org). Overall, we really liked this playground. It's located near the entrance of the park, so we didn't have to deal with the crowds at the Maryland SoccerPlex and Discovery Sports Center.

There are two big play areas -- one is a castle (shown in the picture) and the other is a ship. As you know, Colin is a big fan of slides, so he was in heaven. He even went down the big slide you see in the picture. We thought he would be scared, but, nope, he just wanted to go down again and again.

And that's where we encountered the biggest problem with the playground -- it's not really made for little kids. (There are two tot lots in the park, but this playground looked like much more fun.) So, Daddy and I ended up doing a lot of climbing and lifting so Colin could get to the slides. It was also pretty crowded and we had to dodge a few running kids (again, we probably would have avoided this problem if we used the tot lots).

We give this playground 4 out of 5 stars. We'll be playing there again!
