Happy Thanksgiving

From our family to yours!

Thanksgiving morning, we went to Frederick to watch Daddy play in Turkey Bowl XVI. We enjoyed the unseasonably warm temperatures (in the upper 60s) and then headed up to Greencastle to spend the day with Grammy and Grandaddy. We enjoyed a yummy, if non-traditional, dinner at Cracker Barrel. By the time we left, the temperature had dropped 30 degrees!

Yesterday, Daddy, Colin and I did some Black Friday shopping. We found some great deals and finished up half of our Christmas shopping. We also had a mini turkey dinner (turkey breast, stuffing, sweet potatoes, Cope's corn, and rolls -- carbtastic!).

Today, we tried to catch up on some sleep and I baked the first batch of oatmeal cookies of the holiday season. Too bad there's only one more day left in our 4-day weekend!

(I hope everyone is thankful that I posted a picture of Daddy and me. You won't see that often!)

Must See TV

It's no secret that I watch way too much TV. Just check out the to do list on my Tivo. So, I guess it's not surprising that we don't exactly follow the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics that children under 2 not watch any TV.

A few months ago, we came across these guys -- The Backyardigans. Each episode features songs and dances from a different musical genre (and a snack)! I'm particularly fond of Samurai Pie and The Yeti (among others). I started putting on an episode after I picked up Colin from daycare so I could get a few things done around the house. They looked harmless enough.

Colin has become an addict. Now, when he wants to watch an episode, he'll hand you the remote and say "Paba" (the penguin's name is Pablo). Unfortunately, he wants to watch Paba ALL THE TIME. Yesterday, we were trying to watch football: "Paba. Paba. Paba." (The plus side is we are getting some quality snuggle time.) Anybody know a good 10-step program for toddlers?

21-Month Stats

Colin had his 21-month appointment today. He weighed in at 30 pounds 2 ounces (85th percentile) and is 33.5 inches tall (50th percentile). The doctor says he looks healthy and is developing just as he should be.

Unfortunately, he did have an ear infection earlier this week (Daddy took him to the doctor on Tuesday). The doctor says it looks much better today, but it has wreaked havoc on his sleep schedule. Of course, this means that none of us have been getting enough sleep. Now that we know that his ear isn't hurting him any more, we're going to start "sleep training" again (which we haven't had to do in almost 18 months). Wish us luck!
