I found out this morning that my sister-in-law went into labor last night. I'm hopeful that, starting today, 9/11 will be a cause for celebration, instead of just a day of sadness.

T Minus Two Months
We're down to two months!
I had an appointment today and (shocker!) I'm measuring a bit big. What does that mean? Well, one, I'm probably carrying another big baby. And, two, now there's a medical reason to do another ultrasound. We're hoping that the ultrasound will confirm that Jelly Bean is indeed a she and we can start washing some of the bedding and clothes we've accumulated. (Grandma and I went shopping a couple of weeks ago. As Colin reported to Daddy, "Mommy get pink!")
It will be nice to see her again!

Splitting Hairs

T Minus Three Months
If all goes as planned, Jelly Bean will be making her debut three months from today. I guess it's time to start getting ready for her arrival.
Hmm, what do we need?
Crib -- check, once we evict its current resident.
Clothes -- check, if two sleepers and a bunch of blue hand-me-downs are enough.
Diapers -- check, if she can fit into a size 6.
Looks like we have a long way to go... Gulp!

The Verdict Is In!
And, it's a GIRL!!! A big, healthy girl. Do you want to see a picture of little Magnolia Blossom?

Disease of the Day
When I was in college, we used to joke that the student health clinic had a big wheel that they would spin to determine the Disease of the Day and everyone who came that day would be diagnosed with that disease.* My roommate was repeatedly diagnosed with mono, even though she repeatedly tested negative.
Colin's pediatrician, however, clearly does not have a Disease of the Day wheel. So far, Colin has had a number of ear infections, hand, foot and mouth disease, bronchitis or a sinus infection, norovirus and a Lyme disease scare.
On Friday, his daycare teacher called to say he had a fever of 102. I picked him up, but he seemed fine. Soon after we got home, he didn't want to eat or drink and he climbed up on the couch and laid down. Very unusual! He fever spiked at 103 on Friday night and Saturday, but was back down on Sunday. We thought his last ear infection may not have cleared up, so Daddy brought him to the doctor yesterday.
The good news is that his ears look fine. So, what's the disease of the day? Viral ulcers in his mouth! The ulcers have closed so he's no longer contagious and his fever is gone, but we're wondering what other interesting ailments he's going to have.
It's hard being a sick toddler:
*For anyone who doesn't know, I went to college at Johns Hopkins -- you may have heard of its hospital. Unfortunately, the hospital is on a different campus and student health care at the Homewood campus is abysmal (at least it was in 1995).

Is this thing on?
I've received some complaints about the blog not being updated for almost three months. I apologize to my loyal readers (all three of you!) for the delay. But, I do have an excuse.
Beginning in early March, I started to feel really tired and nauseated. I went to my doctor and she was able to determine the cause of my sickness -- I'm pregnant. Baby #2 (a/k/a Jelly Bean) is due on November 4, but will most likely be joining us a week earlier (October 28 or so). We're hoping to find out whether Jelly Bean is a boy or a girl at our 20-week ultrasound on June 17. In the meantime, please take our poll (on the right side of the page).
Needless to say, Daddy and I are thrilled to be adding to our family. Colin, however, isn't so sure. Whenever I ask him if there's a baby in my belly, he shakes his head and says, "no baby." Not a good sign.
I'll try to update the blog with some of the other things that have been happening -- Colin's soccer class, our trip to Clark's Elioak Farm, Daddy's new job, Colin's new love for the "Ee ee House Show," etc. Stay tuned. Things are going to get interesting...
